Chicago Chesed Fund’s Annual Fundraiser Event & Raffle Scores Big for Jewish Families in Need
Chicago, IL—On Monday, September 4, The Chicago Chesed Fund hosted its annual fundraiser event and raffle to benefit Chicago’s Jewish families in need. Powered by a devoted committee, sponsors and community members across Chicago, the event successfully raised awareness—and vital proceeds–to continue fueling their wide range of chesed programs.
Roughly 300 guests enjoyed a Caspian Summer evening, featuring Middle-Eastern cuisine, live music, wine pairing from Kol Tuv Wineries and the live drawing of the Tesla raffle winner. The Chicago Chesed Fund sold a record number of tickets, making this year’s raffle a nationwide success.
“I’m speechless,” exclaimed a stunned WayGee Ho, a solutions architect from Fresh Meadows, NY, who purchased the winning ticket on DansDeals.com. “That’s amazing. I never win anything.” Given the chance to choose his grand prize, Ho couldn’t resist his love for luxury cars and elected for a new 2017 Tesla Model X, valued at $83,000.
“This year’s event will help thousands of individuals receive immediate, individualized attention for their every need – all at no cost,” said Rabbi Yosef Fuerst, Director of the Chicago Chesed Fund. “One person may have won the raffle, but this was an extraordinary win for all of Chicago.”
For many, 2017’s event was their first interaction with the Chicago Chesed Fund. “A fundamental goal of ours is to raise awareness for the organization and its impact on the community,” said Meir Katzenstein, Chicago Chesed Fund event committee member and key organizer. “That’s why we choose to host on the street in front of the warehouse. From first-timers to seasoned supporters, everyone sees up-close how dedicated the Chicago Chesed Fund is to helping our community.”
For Katzenstein, he’s excited for what next year will bring. “Each year, we see an increasing number of participants and continue to look for fresh ways to support Chicago’s Jewish communities.”
The Chicago Chesed Fund would like to extend its greatest appreciation for the event’s committee members and sponsors that made the evening a resounding success.
