Just Announced! Chicago Chesed Fund Now Helps with WIC Benefits.

It’s hard enough to stay on top of the various government assistance programs and application processes without the added hassle of traveling to multiple offices. Chicago Chesed Fund is going to further eliminate this stress by enhancing our one-stop-shop for many of the community’s service needs.

Beginning in November, Chicago Chesed Fund is going to be a mobile WIC site, in addition to being a CEDA – LIHEAP partner and a Medicaid and SNAP benefit help-site. This answers the call of many community members who have requested that we house more services under one roof.

WIC (The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) is a federal program that assists eligible individuals in gaining access to healthy food, nutrition-education, breastfeeding support, and referrals. Mothers with a child under age 5, pregnant women, foster parents, and caregivers that meet program’s income guidelines are eligible for benefits.

Two days a week, representatives from the Howard Street WIC office will be at the Chicago Chesed Fund headquarters offering their complete services– including intake of new clients, renewal of benefits, and nutritional counseling.

Individuals who currently receive WIC services at ANY location can ask to switch to the Howard Street/Chicago Chesed Fund location for services.

To apply for services, renew benefits, and/or change the location at which you receive services, call:  WIC 773-338-7334. You MUST state that you’d like to schedule your appointment at the Chicago Chesed Fund.
