Credit rescue
For individuals facing insurmountable debts that are burdened by interest—whether its credit cards or other responsibilities—the Chicago Chesed Fund now helps negotiate with creditors for payment restructuring. For more information, please call 847.679.7799 x127.
Government program assistance
The Chicago Chesed Fund can help those in need access and receive government assistance—including Public Aid, Link (food stamps) and Medicaid. For eligible individuals, the Chicago Chesed Fund can enter information into the system immediately and cut through the bureaucracy during the first crucial days following a crisis.
Though we believe government assistance may not be a long-term solution for everyone in need, it is an important part of the safety net for community members faced with urgent financial, medical, and housing needs. For more information, please call 847.679.7799 x129.
Free emergency loans
Community members can borrow up to $10,000 for a wedding, car or house—and $5,000 for everything else. All with no-interest, easy-to-pay monthly installments. For more information, please call 847.679.7799 x126.
Emergency utility payments
When families and older adults face heat stroke because they can’t afford air conditioning, the Chicago Chesed Fund takes care of it. If they can’t pay the heating bills in the winter, the Chicago Chesed Fund does it. And we prevent the electric company from shutting off a family’s lights. What’s more, our volunteers can make the utility companies aware of special situations and negotiate with them.
Foreclosure prevention
When families are threatened with foreclosure or evictions, the Chicago Chesed Fund helps them pay their mortgage or rent. Then we find ways to help them continue paying their housing payments so they can avoid a further crisis.
