The Chicago Chesed Fund provides help when it's needed most.

The Chicago Chesed Fund is here in times of need

Wherever there's a need, the Chicago Chesed Fund is here to help. And as the financial meltdown continues to affect more Jewish families here in the Chicago area, the Chicago Chesed Fund provides even more vital programs.

Here’s a glimpse of how the Chicago Chesed Fund comes to the aid of local families in need.

Many community g’machs

All under one roof, our g’machs include furniture and appliances… children's clothes… shoes… toys and bicycles… new housewares… bridal gifts to set up a new household… centerpieces for all types of occasions… formal gowns for wedding parties… and sukkahs.

Food services

In complete privacy, families “shop” the 14 aisles of hundreds of grocery items at the Chicago Chesed Fund warehouse in Lincolnwood—like a free Sam’s Club. What’s more, the Chicago Chesed Fund also distributes gift certificates for kosher and major grocery stores to more than 500 people here monthly.

Financial assistance

Community members in need can receive financial help through our Credit Rescue Program, emergency utility payments, foreclosure prevention, government program assistance and free emergency loans. We also provide employment help through Job Link.

Jewish life-cycle assistance

When times are tough, the Chicago Chesed Fund can help with important life-cycle situations. Such as? Bar or bat mitzvahs, weddings, free dating service, holiday assistance, teen outreach and a lot more
